So today we're going to share our dream cast with you.
First off,
Jane
She's the main character, and we'd need an actress who could get Jane's type A personality and her bookish seriousness, but who could also handle the comedy of the situation.
For this part we have four top choices:
Emma Watson |
Gifford
We like to joke that Gifford is the eye-candy of our book, because he's pretty. But he's also a pretty complicated guy. He has the reputation for being a bit of a bad boy, but he has the soul of a poet. We've had some arguments about this one, but for now our top picks for Gifford are:Aaron Taylor Thomas |
Yeah, we could stare at him all day, too. But he's also got the comedy chops that our Gifford would desperately need -- KICK ASS, anyone?
OR
Nicholas Hoult |
This guy is both adorable and funny. We loved WARM BODIES.
Edward
Edward is tricky, because he has to seem believable as the king of England and as a teenage boy who wants nothing more than a first kiss. He is also sick and dying for a large part of the story, so he has to pull of the ability to look both strong and weak at the same time. Not an easy task. We have two suggestions.Thomas Brodie-Sangster |
OR
And there are a couple more key characters we'd like to talk about, like:
Bess
Anna Popplewell |
OR
Emilia Clarke |
Right???? Who says queenly like the mother of dragons? (Does it seem like we have a lot of GoT actors? We do, but what can we say? Our movie needs Brits.)
Gracie
Karan Gillan |
We typically picture Gracie with wild, curly black hair and bright green eyes, but Karan Gillan has both Gracie's Scottishness (because, er, Karan Gillan is a Scot) and her playfulness down perfectly. Bring on the brogue!
So those are our movie daydreams, for now.
